Another international achievement: Prof. Dr. Ákos Lakatos of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Debrecen has been ranked among the world's top 2% of scientists based on his career-long scientific achievements.

There were three representatives from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Debrecen attending the jubilee conference of the Power Electronics and Motion Control Council, which was held in the capital of Estonia. The Tallinn event, hosted by the oldest and most prestigious international association in Europe dedicated to power electronics and motion control, attracted 230 participants from 40 different countries.
Could robots build a Moon base by 2050? Will cars navigate city streets autonomously? Can an entire car factory be designed virtually? Can machines learn from experience? These are the questions explored at AMIRA 2026 in Debrecen on 13–14 October.
Internationally renowned researchers and industrial experts gave talks on the potential direction of technological progress and what sort of developments may transform our daily lives in the near future at the 2nd International Conference on Autonomous Machines and Intelligent Robotics Applications (AMIRA), which began on Tuesday at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Debrecen. Several hundreds of attendees had the opportunity to listen to a total of twenty presentations.
Our students, Dániel Vígh and Károly Árpád Kis excelled at WorldSkills in Shanghai, finishing sixth in Robot Systems Integration and ranking as the second-best European team. Their outstanding performance earned them a Medallion for Excellence.
Two UD students from the Faculty of Engineering did exceptionally well at the WorldSkills international competition held in China. As representatives of Hungary in the industrial robotics category at this world championship of skills, Dániel Vígh and Károly Árpád Kis became the second-best team from Europe.
The renovation project of “The Dryer Workshop”, located on the street Szombathi István, has achieved remarkable success in a prestigious international architectural competition. The building, which had been formerly used for drying animal hides, was remodeled just over two years ago and is now used as a studio facility by the Department of Architecture at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Debrecen.
