Scientometric Data for Performance Evaluation

At the Faculty of Engineering, the Tud-O-Méter tool is recommended for calculating and assessing scientific performance. The tool calculates performance based on publications recorded in MTMT, supplemented with Journal Impact Factor (JIF) data from Web of Science.

About the Values in the Tud-O-Méter Summary Table:

  • Q score: the total score of a given author’s publications. The scores assigned to publications by publication type are as follows (please note that the score must be divided by the number of authors):
    • Journal article with a Journal Impact Factor (JIF): the score corresponds to the JIF value. For example, if the Journal Impact Factor is 3.5, the publication score is also 3.5.
    • Domestic peer-reviewed journal article / research article: 0.3 points.
    • International peer-reviewed journal article / research article: 0.4 points.
    • Domestic peer-reviewed journal article / conference paper: 0.3 points.
    • International peer-reviewed journal article / conference paper: 0.4 points.
    • Book / scholarly book in Hungarian: 1 point.
    • Book / scholarly book in English: 2 points.
    • Journal article / review / critique: 0 points.
    • Journal article / republication: 0 points.
    • Non-peer-reviewed journal article: 0 points.
    • Book chapter / scholarly study published in Hungary: 0.1 points.
    • Book chapter / scholarly study published abroad: 0.2 points.
    • Book chapter / conference paper in Hungarian: 0.1 points.
    • Book chapter / conference paper in English: 0.2 points.
    • Book chapter / abstract: 0 points.
    • Other conference publication / conference paper in Hungarian: 0.1 points.
    • Other conference publication / conference paper in English: 0.2 points.
    • Other types of publications: 0 points.
    • Non-scientific works, e.g. book / higher education textbook: 0 points.
    • Forms of intellectual property protection / design protection (patent): 0 points.
  • I score: the number of independent scholarly citations to a given author’s scientific publications, excluding dissertations.
  • I score based on WoS citations: the number of independent Web of Science (WoS) citations to a given author’s scientific publications. Citations from WoS preprints are not included.
  • Impact Factor: the author’s cumulative Journal Impact Factor (JIF).
  • Relative Impact Factor: the author’s cumulative Journal Impact Factor (JIF), adjusted for the number of authors of each publication with a Journal Impact Factor.
  • H-index (Hirsch index): an author has an h-index of h if they have at least h publications that have each received at least h citations. Tud-O-Méter takes into account only independent scholarly citations to scientific publications.
