Transfer information

FOR THE ATTENTION OF INCOMING STUDENTS (TRANSFER FROM ANOTHER UNIVERSITY/COLLEGE TO UNIVERSITY OF DEBRECEN)

Rules of Credit Transfer

- During your BSc studies you can initiate credit transfer on the basis of your previous academic studies only once, namely during the first semester (first subject registration period, see the exact date below) of your studies here. In case the student is a late-comer, the deadline for submitting a credit transfer request form for him/her is 14 working days of the establishment of student status here. Before transferring to this university, an offer is made for each transfer student so that he/she knows which courses will be validated here. Credit transfer request forms can be submitted based on this offer only. Later on submitting a credit transfer request form will not be possible. Each additional request form will be rejected.

- Decision on submitted credit transfer request forms is made by the program coordinator on the basis of the submitted original documents (transcript of records, detailed course descriptions in English).

- By calculating the estimated end date of your studies at our university please consider that high credit points from your earlier studies do not necessarily mean that you can finish your studies earlier. For example, if you have completed 75 credit points within 3 semesters in your previous bachelor's program and you would like to continue your studies at UD in the same program, it may take longer than 4 semesters to finish your studies. As in our curricula the subjects are built strongly upon each other, if a basic subject is not accepted, you may need 5 or 6 semesters to complete the whole line of prerequisites.

- Transfer students can transfer no more than 60% of the total credits of the particular program and are expected to complete at least 40% of the total credits of the particular program at the University of Debrecen.

Transferring Hungarian language course(s)

Please note that Hungarian courses should not be included in the general transfer request form, because they do not belong to the Faculty of Engineering. The transfer of these courses is managed in the University's e-learning system (https://elearning.unideb.hu/) so if you are a Stipendium Hungaricum student and you intend to transfer the obligatory Hunagrian language courses, you should enroll in the course titled "Hungarian language course - exemptions" and uploade the relevant documents there. You can find the course by clicking on Faculty of Engineering -> English courses MK -> Hungarian language course - exemptions.
