The Faculty of Engineering Receives the Quality Award The Higher Education Quality Award is granted annually to higher education institutions that successfully implement quality management systems. As part of this process, they carry out continuous and strategic quality improvement, support self-assessment-based quality development in alignment with the European Quality Award standards, and consistently monitor and evaluate partner satisfaction regarding their services. Additionally, they apply mutual learning practices, benchmarking-based improvements, and the adoption of successful solutions. Recipients of the award commit to sharing the insights gained from their application process on their institution's website. In the 2010/2011 academic year, six applications were submitted in response to the fifth call for proposals. Among them, two were submitted by higher education institutions, while four were submitted by organizational units within higher education institutions. The evaluation of the applications took place at multiple levels. Applications based on self-assessment first underwent a formal review. This was followed by content evaluation, during which each application was assessed by three independent experts who then formulated a collective opinion. The evaluators conducted on-site inspections for all applicants. Following these visits, they compiled their recommendations and submitted them to the Higher Education Quality Award and Quality Development Committee, which consists of independent experts. On June 28, 2011, the Committee discussed the evaluations and submitted its recommendations to the Minister of National Resources for approval. The Minister accepted the recommendations and announced the following decision: "In the 2011 Higher Education Quality Award competition, the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Debrecen is awarded the Higher Education Quality Award in the Organizational Unit category."
