DETEP

University of Debrecen Talent Management Program (DETEP)

Who is the program for?

The program is intended for students interested in research beyond the requirements of their compulsory courses and who would like to explore specific topics in greater depth.

It is open to all active, full-time students who have completed at least 2 semesters and have not interrupted their studies for more than 2 semesters.

What are the aims of the programme?

The program aims to:

  • Support students in developing and fulfilling their academic and research potential;
  • Facilitate admission to Master's and PhD programs;
  • Support the most talented students in pursuing careers as university lecturers and researchers, thereby contributing to the development of the next generation of academics and researchers.

Benefits of the program

  • Opportunities to conduct research with the support and guidance of a supervisor;
  • Scholarship opportunities;
  • Support for participation in conferences and academic competitions;
  • A diploma supplement recognizing achievements completed within the program;
  • Participation in the program may be considered an advantage in certain applications and calls for proposals.

How does the program work?

Students conduct research under the guidance of a supervisor and according to an individual work plan. Rather than completing traditional taught courses, participants are expected to conduct research and present or disseminate their results through an appropriate academic forum, such as a publication, an oral presentation, or a poster presentation.

The program also encompasses student research societies, colleges for advanced studies, and other student-led academic and self-development groups. DETEP provides a unified framework for these forms of talent development.

Students must register for the program in the Neptun system and enroll in a so-called consultation credit course offered by their supervisor. Successful completion of this credit is a requirement for continued participation in the program.

 Academic credits

Students may complete a maximum of three additional academic credits per semester, beyond the standard credit requirements of their study program, free of charge and in consultation with their supervisor. This is an optional opportunity and not a program requirement
