TDK
At the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Debrecen, we pay great attention to supporting talented students. The Scientific Student Circle organizes its TDK conference once a year, in the autumn semester, which provides students with the opportunity to compete, gain experience and advance to the National Scientific Student Circle Conferences. The Scientific Student Circle activity at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Debrecen has developed a lot in recent years. In 2008, the Faculty TDK work was reorganized, and the Faculty TDK conferences, which had previously only a few participants, have grown to 40-50 participants in recent years. In 2008, Departmental TDK Workshops were established in all Departments of the Faculty, coordinated by a responsible lecturer per Department (Departmental TDK Secretary) and the head of the given Department. The Faculty TDK work is coordinated by the Faculty TDK President. Since 2017, lectures by foreign students have also been given in English. Furthermore, our goal is to select talented students, provide them with professional training, and support students who are already actively engaged in research through various professional seminars, forums, and conferences, which would be conducted mainly by our faculty's instructors and researchers. The Management of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Debrecen has established the Gold, Silver, and Bronze degrees of the Certificate of Recognition for Scientific Student Work to reward papers (students, groups) that have achieved placements at the Faculty Scientific Student Conference, which will be awarded at the Diploma Awarding Faculty Council Meeting.
What is the TDK?
The Scientific Student Circle Conference (SSC) is a great opportunity to delve deeper into your area of interest. SSC is actually a research project, the implementation of which is assisted by a consultant. The research results must be summarized in a paper and then presented at the SSC Conference. The management of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Debrecen has created the Certificate of Recognition for Scientific Student Circle Work to recognize outstanding papers, and gold, silver and bronze awards are presented at the Faculty Council for the Diploma Awarding.
Why is it good to participate?
Why is it worth participating in the SSC? A SSC placement not only looks good on your CV later on, but also means extra points when applying for a master's degree. In addition, successful participation in the competition also looks excellent on your CV, which is extremely useful for later career building. The TDK work can often be seen as a preliminary version of the thesis, so the experiences gained during its preparation, and the opinions of the consultant and reviewer provide significant assistance in improving the thesis, and the results can even be used to prepare a scientific publication.
