Public transportation is a fundamental pillar of urban life and a key component of a sustainable future. As Debrecen's primary transit provider, DKV Zrt. is deeply committed to shaping tomorrow's mobility. By sponsoring the OTDK's Technical Sciences Section and offering complimentary travel for participants, DKV underscores the importance of partnership with young minds, the value of innovation, and its dedication to sustainable development.

Why is the OTDK important to DKV? What message would you like to send to young participants through your support?
DKV Zrt. is the engine behind Debrecen's public transit system, facilitating around 100 million journeys each year. Transportation is more than infrastructure — it's a community experience and a key factor in the quality of urban life. That's why public transport must be attractive to residents, university students, and tourists. Our goal is to encourage as many people as possible to choose sustainable travel.
We are currently undergoing a significant transformation. In this process, knowledge, collaboration, and innovation are essential. Alongside modernizing our fleet, we've also developed user-friendly digital solutions — including real-time tracking apps — making it easier than ever for visitors, including OTDK participants, to navigate the city.
Our partnership with the Faculty of Engineering is strategic and long-term. We're eager to welcome more students for internships and practical training, offering them access to unique expertise that's hard to come by elsewhere. Whether you're a vehicle engineer, an electrical or mechatronics specialist, or a project manager — we have exciting opportunities and meaningful challenges to offer.
What advice would you give to students participating in the competition to help them succeed?
I have a personal connection to this event. I began my studies in architecture at the Faculty of Engineering, later graduating as a construction management engineer — and I, too, once competed in the OTDK.
My advice? Don't stress. If you've prepared well, let confidence guide you. OTDK participation nurtures skills that are valuable throughout your career — such as public speaking, clarity of thought, and the ability to communicate knowledge effectively.

How much does OTDK experience matter in your hiring process?
From a human resources perspective, an OTDK-affiliated degree can weigh more than even two degrees without it. It demonstrates academic excellence, dedication, curiosity, and initiative — qualities we highly value.
What can students expect when they visit your booth? What’s the main draw?
Students can explore internship and job opportunities at our booth and connect directly with our team. We're not just looking for future engineers — we welcome those interested in management and operations as well. Students involved in dual training programs are especially important to us, as these two years of collaboration allow us to build lasting professional relationships. By the time they graduate, they're already well-equipped with hands-on experience.
While we're not a multinational corporation, we offer real-world, complex challenges and a broad professional perspective. DKV combines a stable foundation with dynamic, forward-thinking projects. Our recent accolades — including the 2023 "Family-Friendly Workplace" award and the 2024 "Responsible Employer Gold Certification" — reflect our people-centered approach and commitment to continuous development.
For those who want a deeper look into how we work, we invite you to join us on May 11 for our upcoming professional open day, where you can meet our team and get a behind-the-scenes look at the future of transportation.
