Internship (Environmental Engineering MSc)

Internship (in the model curriculum referred to as MK5NSGYK00KX17-EN Environmental Summer Professional Practice) is a mandatory and an integral part of the course of studies and strongly related to thesis. Completing internship is one of the award requirements. The duration of internship is at least 4 weeks, internship should be undertaken in summer (preferably during the summer vacation, approximately between the middle of July and the end of August). Any company, firm, local government, entrepreneur/contractor (state or private) can be a suitable internship place if the activity carried out there is related to environmental protection.
Credit points: 10, the credits of the internship do not count towards the total credits required (210)

Assessment on Neptun: signature

If students started their studies in the first fall semester, they are supposed to sign up for internship on Neptun in the first spring semester and complete it in the summer of the first spring semester. Those who started their studies in the first spring semester are supposed sign up for internship on Neptun in the first spring semester (alternatively in the second spring semester) and complete it in the summer of the first spring semester (alternatively in the second spring semester).

Please note it is the student's duty and responsibility to find a placement. As finding an internship place is difficult and time-comsuming, students are encourged to start searching for a suitable internship place on time.

Internship in Environmental Technology, Planning, Constructions Specialization

Aim of internship
To obtain specific practical skills from the field of environmental technology, alternative or environmentally friendly technology, solve problems of nature protection which form the basis for the final semester of the training program, the efficiency of the process of preparing thesis and the period after graduation.
Focal tasks during internship
Students can be involved in work on the basis of the skills acquired during their studies from the following fields: water, noise, soil, air, vibration and noise protection; waste management and treatment; investigations of environmental impact and environmental impact assessment; environmental remediation; fundamentals of energy management, energy production, renewable energy sources; main goals of sustainable development; characteristics of engineering software; regulations and methods of work and fire safety; safety and elimination.

Completion of internship
During internship and while working in a given field students prepare a report whose topic is selected by the student with the assistance of his/her supervisor(s). The report can contain publicly available data on the company or information to which the company has given its consent before.
The following should be considered when evaluating student performance: professional, personal attitude, diligence, adaptive skills, successful completion of specific tasks.

Internship in Built Environment Specialization

Aim of internship
To obtain specific practical skills from the field of urban environment, alternative/ environmentally friendly technologies, solve problems of nature protection which form the basis for the final semester of the training program, the efficiency of the process of preparing thesis and the period after graduation.
Focal tasks during internship
Students can be involved in work on the basis of the skills acquired during their studies from the following fields: urban hydrology, urban climate, soil, vibration and noise protection; waste management and treatment; investigations of environmental impact and environmental impact assessment; fundamentals of energy management, energy production, renewable energy utilization; characteristics of the engineering software; regulations and methods of work and fire safety; safety and elimination.

Completion of internship

Evaluation Sheet and Certificate

The Invitation Letter and Cooperation Agreement in Hungarian/Internship Cooperation should be submitted to Dr Gábor Bellér, Associate Professor (room 310, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Environmental Engineering, email: beller.gabor@eng.unideb.hu) until the end of May of each calendar year. Internship Report and Evaluation Sheet and Certificate should be submitted online until 18th August 2024.

Upon the student's special request a so-called Certificate for Internship can be issued which proves internship is a mandatory unit in the model curriculum of the training program and an integral part of the course of studies for Environmental Engineering MSc students. The certificate can be requested in room 123, Faculty of Engineering.
