Strategic Cooperation Between the Faculty of Engineering and Global Technology Leaders

A delegation from the Faculty of Engineering, University of Debrecen, led by Dean Prof. Dr. Géza Husi, visited China for strategic meetings with leading global tech companies: LK Group, SEMCORP, and EVE Energy Co., Ltd.

The primary aim of the visit was to deepen the Faculty’s engagement with leading players in the global innovation ecosystem—focusing on intelligent manufacturing, next-generation energy technologies, and talent development through industry-academia collaboration.

Strategic Alliance with LK Group: Shaping the Future of Engineering Education

China Diecasting

At the prestigious China Diecasting Expo in Shanghai, the Faculty signed a strategic cooperation agreement with LK Group, one of the world’s leading  companies in die-casting and advanced manufacturing solutions.

For nearly two decades, the Faculty of Engineering has been a leading force in Hungary’s engineering education landscape, with a strong commitment to aligning theoretical knowledge with real-world industrial needs. The collaboration with LK Group brings this vision to a new level, forming an innovative ecosystem based on three key pillars:

  • Student engagement through international industrial practice and thesis projects. High-performing students will gain access to fast-track recruitment channels within LK Group’s global network.
  • Industry-aligned curriculum development in intelligent manufacturing, automation, and digital technologies—co-designed and co-taught by academic and industrial experts to ensure cutting-edge, application-oriented education.
  • The joint establishment of a “European Innovation Machinery Center” in Debrecen, which will serve as a hub for research, demonstration, and knowledge exchange.

Innovation Forum 2025: All Three Partners to Join Debrecen Event

All three companies confirmed their participation in the Innovation Forum 2025, to be held in October in Debrecen. The event is jointly organized by the Faculty of Engineering and Shanghai DianJi University, as part of the “One Belt One Road” Science and Technology Cooperation Initiative, supported by the Chinese government. The University of Debrecen will serve as co-chair of the initiative from 2025 to 2027.

The forum aims to provide a cross-sector development platform connecting industry, academia, and research—focusing on sustainability, green energy, and Industry 4.0 solutions.

Debrecen as a Knowledge Hub: Global Vision, Local Impact

This series of strategic engagements demonstrates that the Faculty of Engineering is not only keeping pace with global technological trends—it is actively shaping them. Our vision is to train future engineers in an environment where academic excellence, industrial insight, and international collaboration converge.

Each partnership supports BSc, MSc, and PhD-level education, and all three companies have committed to offering industrial PhD topics, reinforcing the bridge between research and practice. The outcomes of this visit lay the groundwork for a future-ready, innovation-driven engineering education, centered on the synergy of people, knowledge, and technology.
