Maintaining and enhancing competitiveness in the modern business world requires companies to develop their processes and technologies continually. One of the most effective ways to achieve this is through the application of Kaizen. Kaizen is a complex Japanese word that can be translated as "change" (kai) in the "good" (zen) direction. The Kaizen™ Award provides international recognition to enterprises that lead in fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Wednesday's event will reward companies that have applied for the award and operate according to the Japanese philosophy of Kaizen.
The Kaizen Institute first introduced the award in 2011 in Portugal, and it has since been presented in 16 other countries. Hungary joined the initiative this year, and the most outstanding Hungarian companies were selected through a competitive process. The call for applications was open to state or private organizations based in Hungary, including large, medium, and small enterprises. Applicants were required to present in detail their relevant projects, achievements, and future plans. This year, members of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Debrecen (DE MK) also participated in the evaluation process.
"The Kaizen™ Award ceremony is not just a recognition event. It's a powerful platform that strengthens the bond between the Faculty of Engineering and the industrial sector. It's a testament to our commitment to professional development and continuous learning." As T. Kiss Judit, Vice Dean for Education at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Debrecen, rightly puts it, this event is a celebration of our shared journey towards excellence. The Department of Engineering Management and Enterprise at DE MK is at the forefront of teaching and promoting this transformative philosophy.
The Kaizen™ Awards will be presented during a professional gala evening at DE MK on Wednesday, attended by the Managing Director of Kaizen Institute Hungary, the DE MK leaders, and the Executive Director of EDC Debrecen Urban and Economic Development Center.
"In addition to rewarding successful implementations, our goal is to introduce Hungarian companies to modern management methods that enable continuous improvement of competitiveness," said Balázs Bessenyey, Managing Director of Kaizen™ Institute Hungary Kft.
The best applicants, ACPS Automotive Kft., Payer Industries Hungary Kft., and Thyssenkrupp Components Technology Hungary Kft., will present the projects they submitted for the Kaizen™ Award competition at the event. The winner of the first prize will only be announced at the event.
The winning company at the Kaizen™ Awards will not only earn national acclaim but also represent Hungary at the prestigious International Kaizen™ Award competition. This is a unique opportunity to showcase our country's commitment to continuous improvement on a global stage. The best from the international competition will be honored at the Kaizen Award Global gala in São Paulo, Brazil, in the fall, further cementing the global recognition of the Kaizen™ Awards.
