Faculty of Engineering Signs Strategic Partnership with EVE Power Hungary

The Faculty of Engineering of the University of Debrecen and EVE Power Hungary Ltd. have signed a strategic partnership to strengthen practice-oriented engineering education and foster closer collaboration between academia and industry.

The partnership aims to create new educational and research opportunities by combining academic excellence with industrial expertise. Speaking at the signing ceremony, Professor Géza Husi, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, noted that the foundations of the cooperation were established during his professional visit to EVE Power's headquarters in China.

"This agreement marks a new milestone in our long-term partnership with EVE Power Hungary. By strengthening cooperation between academia and industry, we aim to equip future engineers with the knowledge and practical skills needed to support the battery industry and sustainable mobility," said Professor Husi.

A key focus of the partnership is the further development of practice-oriented engineering education, particularly in battery manufacturing, automation, and quality assurance. As part of the initiative, the University of Debrecen will launch a new elective course from September 2026, open to students from all faculties.

The Faculty is also exploring the possibility of introducing a multi-semester educational program. In addition, experts from EVE Power Hungary will have the opportunity to contribute to teaching activities, while students will be able to engage in industry-based bachelor's and master's theses, diploma projects, and collaborative research initiatives.

The Department of Electrical Engineering and Mechatronics will play a central role in implementing the partnership.

"Building long-term partnerships with leading industrial companies is one of our strategic priorities. We believe that modern engineering education can only thrive through close cooperation between universities and industry," said Sándor Hajdu, Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Mechatronics.

He added that the agreement with EVE Power Hungary represents an important milestone, as the department's expertise in electrical engineering and mechatronics closely aligns with the company's activities, creating strong opportunities for innovation, knowledge transfer, and professional collaboration.

EVE Power is one of the world's leading battery manufacturers and is currently building its first European production facility in Debrecen. The company specialises in the development and manufacture of high-performance lithium-ion battery cells.

"Supporting education is a strategic priority for EVE Power Hungary. Through our partnership with the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Debrecen, we aim to contribute to the practice-oriented education of future engineers while bringing academic knowledge and industrial experience even closer together," said Ádám Kovács, Public Relations Manager of EVE Power Hungary.

He emphasised that meaningful cooperation between education and industry is essential to Debrecen's technological development.

"We believe it is important that young engineers gain practical industry experience during their university years and see real career opportunities here in Debrecen," he added.

EVE Power Hungary also supports the University of Debrecen Formula Student Team, providing students with additional opportunities to gain hands-on engineering experience and further strengthening the connection between academia and industry.
