Last week, we celebrated the students who delivered exceptional performances at the Faculty's Scientific Student Conference, and through their diligence and talent, they continue to enhance its reputation. At the award ceremony, Prof. Dr. Géza Husi, Dean and GTIDEA professor, Prof. Dr. Ákos Lakatos, Chair of the Faculty's TDK Committee, and Mónika Tímea Denichné Hajdú, Head of the Kossuth Lajos Teacher Training Secondary Grammar School and Elementary School, welcomed the attendees.
In his ceremonial speech, Prof. Dr. Géza Husi emphasized that the Conference of Scientific Students' Association is not merely a competition but a significant milestone for talented young people. With their knowledge, creativity, and perseverance, these students demonstrate that the future of industry is in capable hands.
He highlighted that, for the first time this year, students from the Kossuth Lajos Teacher Training Secondary Grammar School of the University of Debrecen participated in the Conference, achieving outstanding results. Their representatives from the environmental engineering, mechatronics, vehicle engineering, and building services engineering sections advanced to the 37th National Scientific Student Conference in Technical Sciences, to be held at the Faculty of Engineering from April 23–25, 2025.
This year's youngest presenter, Dávid Szeőcs, is only 16 years old, while István Vajk Dienes secured first place and received a special award from the Energy Division of the Hungarian Chamber of Engineers. These achievements praise their talent and dedication, proving that interest in and commitment to science can lead to exceptional results, even at the secondary school level.
Prof. Dr. Géza Husi further emphasized that the intersection of industry, technology, and science has never been more critical than now. Debrecen, as a rapidly growing economic and industrial hub, sets an example for the entire country. The award-winning students, future engineers, will play a key role in shaping a more sustainable, innovative, and livable world.
In her speech preceding the award ceremony, Mónika Tímea Denichné Hajdú thanked the Faculty for encouraging young talents to participate in the competition. She congratulated the students who attended the Conference and expressed gratitude for the hard work of the supervising teachers.
In addition to the certificates, the Conference of Scientific Students' Association Faculty of Engineering winners also received scholarship awards. A detailed list of awardees and those advancing to the National Scientific Student Conference is available HERE.
