The event is an excellent opportunity to delve deeper into topics that interest you, to test your professional knowledge, and to build long-term relationships with like-minded peers. It is also a great chance to improve your debate skills and public speaking, which can give you an advantage later in the job market, such as during a job interview. Besides moral recognition, you may also receive financial rewards.
What is FCSSA?
The Faculty Conference of Scientific Students' Association (TDK in Hungarian) is a great opportunity to immerse yourself in your field of interest. Essentially, it is a research project supported by a consultant. The research results must be summarized in a paper and then presented at the Conference.
Winners and runners-up can receive a scholarship award. Based on the committee's decision, the awarded theses can win the right to participate in the 2025 OTDK in Debrecen (at our Faculty). The winners and runners-up can win the Gold, Silver and Bronze degrees of the Certificate of Recognition for Academic Student Work, which will be presented at the Diploma Awarding Faculty Council meeting.
Why is it worth participating?
An FCSSA placement not only looks good on your CV but also earns extra points when applying for a master's program. Furthermore, successful participation in the competition stands out on your resume, which is extremely beneficial for future career development. The CSSA paper can often be considered a preliminary version of your thesis, and the experience gained during its preparation, along with the feedback from your consultant and reviewers, can greatly help you perfect your thesis. Moreover, the results could even lead to a scientific publication.
How to apply?
Students of our Faculty, enrolled in BSc or MSc programs, whether full-time or part-time, studying in Hungarian or English, can participate in the conference. The submission deadline is 11. November 2024, 12:00 noon
The paper must be submitted in two printed and spiral-bound copies, as well as in electronic format (doc or docx file, written to a labeled CD or PEN DRIVE) by the given deadline. The paper and its cover must meet the recommended formatting requirements. Formal requirements are available HERE.
