At the Faculty of Engineering (DE MK), students can choose from Bachelor of Science (BSc) programs in Civil Engineering, Engineering Management, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, and Vehicle Engineering.
Master of Science (MSc) programs include Electrical Engineering, Engineering Management, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Sports Engineering, Urban System Engineering, and Vehicle Engineering.
The Faculty of Engineering also offers dual training programs, where students gain theoretical knowledge and practical experience by collaborating with the faculty's industrial partners. These dual programs are available in Debrecen for BSc and MSc in Mechanical Engineering, MSc in Engineering Management, and MSc in Environmental Engineering.
We also offer Postgraduate Diploma Programs in Lean Engineer, Lean Manager, Strategic Engineering, and Sustainability Leadership, which provide opportunities for further knowledge expansion and specialization. In the near future, our PhD program will also be launched within the Pekár Imre Doctoral School of Mechanical Engineering Sciences framework.
For years, Mechanical Engineering has been the most popular undergraduate program among applicants, primarily because it is a broad and versatile field that plays a crucial role in nearly all segments of modern industry. Civil Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, and Engineering Management are highly sought-after programs, as the Dean of DE MK explained.
Growing Popularity and International Recognition
According to Dean Géza Husi, the Faculty of Engineering has maintained a stable student population of over 3,200 in the past five years, with nearly 1,000 international students. This reflects the growing popularity of engineering programs and the increasing interest in domestic and international engineering careers.
The Faculty of Engineering boasts modern infrastructure and state-of-the-art laboratories. A new building wing will soon be inaugurated on the Ótemető Street campus, providing students with the best learning and research environment.
The faculty's teaching staff consists of highly qualified professionals, including internationally recognized researchers, industry experts, and academic professionals. Faculty members actively participate in domestic and international research projects, ensuring that the curriculum remains up to date.
Excellence in Research and Industry Collaboration
The Faculty of Engineering has been awarded the "Excellent Research Infrastructure" title, which recognizes it as one of the top research institutions in Hungary and Europe.
"One of the unique aspects of our faculty is its practice-oriented education, experience-based teaching, and extensive international partnerships. Our students have the opportunity to engage in research and innovation projects in collaboration with industrial partners, providing them with unique opportunities compared to similar institutions," emphasized the faculty leadership.
The Faculty of Engineering continuously adapts its programs to meet the demands of the job market, ensuring that students graduate with competitive knowledge. As a result, graduates have excellent employment prospects in Hungary and internationally.
A New Era: The Launch of the Doctoral School
The faculty has recently fulfilled the requirements for establishing its doctoral school.
"This achievement is not only a recognition of our past efforts but also marks the beginning of a new, forward-looking chapter at the Faculty of Engineering. The doctoral school will provide opportunities for the highest level of research in engineering sciences," said Dean Géza Husi.
At its launch, the Pekár Imre Doctoral School of Mechanical Engineering Sciences will offer two main programs:
- Building Engineering and Building Energy Program
- Integrated, Intelligent Mechanical Systems Program
Additionally, it will include two subprograms:
- Mechanical Process Design, Materials and Machine Diagnostics
- Mechatronics and Cyber-Physical Systems
"The doctoral school allows our students not only to witness but also to shape the future of engineering innovation actively," added the Dean.
