Chinese Delegations Visit the Faculty of Engineering

Several Chinese universities are planning faculty and student exchanges, as well as research collaborations with the Faculty of Engineering.

Building international relationships is a top priority for the Faculty of Engineering, and we proudly collaborate with numerous foreign higher education institutions. Recently, delegations from multiple Chinese universities visited our faculty, aiming to establish new partnerships.

Representing our faculty in these discussions were Dean Prof. Dr. Géza Husi, Dr. Zsolt Tiba, the dean’s representative for international relations, and Prof. Dr. Imre Kocsis, the vice-dean for research. Prof. Dr. Géza Husi showcased the high-quality scientific work being conducted at the faculty and introduced our educational programs, research areas, state-of-the-art infrastructure, and extensive industrial connections.

The increasing number of Chinese students at the Faculty of Engineering underscores the importance of expanding collaboration with Chinese universities and the strong demand for joint educational and research programs. These collaborations not only enrich our academic environment but also enhance cultural exchange and mutual understanding.

Yantai University’s leadership signed a university-level agreement for a 3+2 training collaboration. Visiting students will spend two years in our MSc programs in environmental, vehicle, mechanical, and mechatronic engineering. This cooperation opens new opportunities for both Hungarian and Chinese students and researchers to gain valuable international experience and foster cross-border innovation.

Dr. Zsolt Tiba accompanied the delegation from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and led a tour of our off-site department at Pharmaflight. The visitors were highly impressed with what they saw and heard, expressing that they see numerous opportunities for collaboration between the two institutions. Negotiations are expected to continue this fall, potentially leading to exciting new projects.

Representing Shanghai DianJi University, Mark Danilovich visited us and, after meeting with the leadership, gave a presentation to the faculty’s students about the opportunities offered by their university. He highlighted that the partnership with the Chinese institution not only allows students to complete internships at Chinese-owned companies, benefiting from market-oriented training, but also provides significant advantages for the Hungarian industry, considering the rapid development of the Chinese automotive sector. He proposed creating dual-degree programs, summer courses, and organizing faculty and student exchange programs to strengthen academic ties and practical collaborations.

During the discussion, Dean Géza Husi emphasized that our goal is to establish long-term partnerships with companies that drive industrial development. To this end, we continuously develop our programs to ensure they are attractive and beneficial for international students as well. We are proud to host over 1,000 international students and boast an excellent teaching staff at our faculty. The Faculty of Engineering at UD is a comprehensive educational center where students can learn at a high level through experience-based, practice-oriented education, preparing them for successful careers in a globalized world.
